Watch "Rape Me" here: iddown.info/the/baS9drSins2klbs/video.html
FUCK MAN ...ESTO SUENA DE LA PUTA! :O
no i think i wont. i dont like rape.
After “Nevermind” Nirvana was HUGE. I believe that they had gone to Germany and “smells like teen spirit” hit MTV and when they came back to the states it was like when the Beatles came to the US. It was nuts.
It’s an FU to mainstream music
@They're Distorting Your Rhthym 118 If you have nothing else to say but insults, then it means you have no argument, so I won't be wasting my time with you now
We're gonna get some opinions from some people that you shouldn't care about what their opinions are. Here's how it went.
que banda del orto ja..como se hicieron famosso
Like a time machine
Had no real meaning to it... haha fuckmesideways.. this album has more meaning than this guys entire existence.. if he looked into the lyrics and how well thought out it actually is.
When all was over listened to, in the end, I think In Utero will be my favourite. Scentless apprentice, Frances Farmer, Very ape. It's a filthy dirty sexy album.
I dont no what you think guys, but they should do more interviews like this in nowadays
Seriously, mtv were complete idiots. No wonder they’re responsible for teen mom...
fuck kurt loder
Good God imagine it being 1993 and hearing In Utero for the first time in your life.
Creo que a Kurt foofighters le parecería una mierda
I've rarely ever watched interviews with Kurt, but I'm aware of his stomach ulcers and how miserable they made him. Watching this interview, I can definitely see it. The man's in excruciating pain most of the day. :| Gosh.
2:00 The girl doesn’t get the meaning of the song
When I was in high school this album was the most shoplifted from record stores, on cassette and CD alike....it is a really dark album.
It's crazy man. Kurt was just a young boy that was confused about all this.. and then all of the sudden he is famous for that.. And in the next moment...he is already away and his daughter is older than he ever has been... and she is confused too.
people were different back then
Yes I'm 46 now and I don't know what the fuck this world is anymore
... And the rest is history. Thanks Nirvana! 😘
1:08 why does this guy seem like the kinda guy that would scream MCFLYYY
I remember buying the 1st tape...i really liked it...then i saw them live....never bothered again kurt was obviously a "studio only" performer
Love this ♠️
That’s, like, one reaction... Deceptive title.
Anyone else notice the unhomogenised accents? Kurt and the students. Now all Americans sound like they are from LA
Radio Friendly Unit Shifter - is pain without feelings
They are all overweight..
that's the only thing you got from the video ? 😭😭😭😭
4:07 the first sjw
You blew it
I remember flying down the road picking this up on tape . . Then my tape deck ate the tape ! Gutted
Good old days.
Milk it is the most underrated song of them
It really might be. I loved how Nirvana could make a song with so much noise (bleeps and blonks) and have it be so damn good. Milk It was one of those for me.
I love it back in the day- when you used to listen the whole album.
I want krist to be a president of us in near future
I saw them in Omaha on that final tour. Glad I got the chance, no one knew how little time was remaining 😟
I saw them in Pennsylvania on that tour and around a month or two later he was gone. It was just devastating...😔
Anyone knows that "Come as you are" version starting here from 6:23 ? Never heard it before and it sounds very very original. Thanks
1:08 hope Billy watches this and realises he called it. All apologies should be included.
they didn't just stop by mtv...mtv paid $7k for the interview. kirk hated mtv
What is most surprising about this in retrospect is that an album like In Utero could sell millions and inspire kinda hokey MTV segments like this. It is a totally uncompromising, noisy, bleak and intensely personal album that would have been strictly underground in literally any decade before or since. The 90s was kind of the only decade (ever) where extremely dark, depressing albums routinely were huge hits (Not just this, but Dirt, Downward Spiral, several others) As great as that album is, "Rape Me" is easily the weakest song on it. Anyone with a brain (or a search engine) knows the intention behind it, but that doesn't make it any less hamfisted. It also sounds like a Nevermind retread, as opposed to the rest of the album which is far more idiosyncratic, challenging and dynamic. But yes, most of this album is brilliant, if difficult.
It was nice to see Kurt straight. Fuckin drugs suck. RIP.
this is so great thank you so much
I miss the 90s. No cell phones and digital bullshit.
College kids looked so much older back then.
"oh, a mean c*nt" (fitting anagram of manu ochenta - and yes there is a "u" to fit but seems so wrong to write it)!
And you made that entire assumption about millions of people on just few on a show you are not very bright are you ? You are weird
The whole album is great. It's pure Nirvana. My favourite is probably Milk It, a great angry song for when you want to let some rage out and just scream with Kurt.
5:32 Kurt sounds sarcastic here. He meant to say Dave's initial crappy riff doesn't count as songwriting. He had to work on a lot of other stuff to make his shit sound good, just so he can give him credit. Obviously not planning to write more songs with him.
I think you’re mostly right, but I think maybe Kurt felt a little weird about being the only one writing songs. I mean he was so damn good at it though
FBE reacts in the 90s
this is so agressivley 90s
God I so wish I could have seen them live.
Well they were right about Heart Shaped Box being a hit
look at Dave at 5:33 BIG SMILE... and at 5:51 when Kurt says ''kind of bone-headed tune'' 😂
He does the money sign. More royalties.
Ppl forget that they were always joking around, as if Nirvana were all dark, doomy and suicidal or some bollox I saw 'em live in 92 and Kurt had the crowd laughing at his jokes several times during the gig, he also chased L7 (the Riot Grrrl band) girls around onstage in a wheelchair, while wearing a lab coat and laughing maniacally 🤣 In Utero is Nirvana's best album, but it amazes me that it was popular it's a highly extreme sound for the charts. XD -
Kurt was a genius songwriter and composer. Dave’s songs are good but not on his level
I love how the first time I saw this interview long long time ago I understood "Hentai Rape song " ahaha we already had quite a Anime culture in france in 95 ++ :3 :3
Back when you could totally trust 'random' people on the streets. Sadly it's so different now.
@Alex Chase - theft and violet crime are way up in San Francisco these days. It helps your point when the SF DA won't prosecute any theft under $1K, any car thefts or break-ins, assault, etc....
@Alex Chase lol i agree people sre just subjects of the internet these days. The wolrd is much better than it was then, we just know more and arent ignorant. Back then we still had serial killers and missing kids on milk cartons. The era of all our cold cases.
@Alex Chase 'Don't blindly accept everything you see or hear' Point taken..LOL
Why do you think you could trust them more? Theft and violent crime is significantly lower now than it was in the 90s where these interviews took place, and across most of North America. Don't blindly accept everything you see or hear in the news.
Nirvana had a whole band in just one guy. Then Dave Grohl joined and they had two full bands in one band. If Kurt didn't passed away, i'm pretty sure Dave would be bringing all his Foo Fighters ideas to the band... Even with Nirvana being a band that didn't had much love for themselves as bandmates
so sad to see Kurt in these interviews before his death because he looked so good and pretty happy. There could have been so much more from him that would have been wonderful
Isn't this the interview where Kurt reacts to people who sell tickets over $100
always hated when bands go..i did this for the fans.. in other words, i really want to dumb down and try my best to sell my music. Just do what you do and if it is great, the fans will come to you. Nirvana showed that.
Grohl is so damn cute here, really eager for that feedback
Remember when this was considered news, in 1993? Compare that to almost 30 years later. They wouldn't bother talking about the newest of anything to anyone today.
I wonder how many people they talked to and gave CDs to that didn't come back the next day for the "review."
I think it was Noel Gallagher who said that even today Nirvana still sound like the future of music, and I couldn't agree more. Best band of all time.
Imagine Kurt Cobain on JRE...
In utero was a great third album (Inscesticide doesn't count)
I was just shy of 8 years old when Kurt Cobain died. I've loved Nirvana since just a few years after that - started listening to them in the late 90's. But I've always wondered, if I had been older, would I have like them as much? More? Would I have been critical of them like some of these people? Etc.. It's just that I was born in 1986 and I grew up not liking much music after the 90's and I wonder if I'd been born in say, 1976, if I would have disliked everything past the 80's or something like that. But it's strange to see all this old footage and how people were reacting to these now classic songs before they were as popular. I used to have the Come As You Are book but my friend stole it before I could read it. I also had the With the Lights Out DVD set, but I destroyed it in a drunken fit of rage while "channeling" Kurt Cobain one night years ago.
You would have liked them more. Because, like me, you would have been so sick of the hair metal by then that your soul was longing for something unpolished and real. They came along at the perfect time. I still remember the goosebumps when “Smells Like Teen Spirit” dropped on Headbangers Ball back in the day.
rape me was a metaphor
Kurt was so beautiful inside and out.
a series of suicides
@6:02 L M A O Love how Cobain cuts so casually into the underlying truth..right there in the interview
Oh my ears... Those accents...
Shit, great times without Internet, Promote an album was very difficult. :p.
i want this MTV to come back
Isn't that the guy from foo fighters on the left? Why is he doing here?
..... are you dumb? Dave was Nirvana's drummer. Most know musical fact ever.
Didnt know people in the 90s were so fuckig touchy thought 2020 was worse... "lyrcs had no deeper meaning" shut up you mong
The guy in the polo knew music.
haha the first offended millennial on tape :D
The guy who didn't get the lyrics... why didn't he just google it? jeez
@Henrik Larsen haha I know Henrik that's the joke :) I'm a 90's kid. Love you anyway
because there was no google back then!!
Billy the undeclared mayor didn't miss
God the 90s just seemed like such a more fucking fun time, a more chill social period. Wtf happened. 2000 and beyond. God.
"Dave came up with this riff, it was kind of boneheaded (Foo?)"
3:46 one of the first video reaction before the internet xD
I think I dated Nicole back in the day
Holy cap I remember watching this when it aired and totally forgotten about until now. Is Kurt Loder still around? WTF happened to that guy? He was such a douche. Greetings from old fucks like me. Cheers!
Double Thomas hahahahah he indeed was the king of douchebags
2:01 she's definitely a Karen
0:45 Did she just say that she "usually listen(s) to cult music?"
She said club music
She said she found the song "Rape Me" offensive. Why? It's not called "Rape Her"?
Well humans haven't changed much since the 90s. Can't say a controversial word, nomatter WHAT the context without someone becoming "offended". It's much worse now though.
1:54 girl is incredible cute and sweet looking
Sweet 90s.!!the BEST YEARS OF OUR LIFETIME....MUSIC,MOVIES,INTENSE FEELINGS,UNIQUE ,FREE PEOPLE...NOW EVERYONE ON INSTA, FB SNAPCHAT.. .. WISH WE CAN TURN BACK AND LIVED THEM AGAIN......HELLO FROM GREECE
The only song I skip on the album is the only one not entirely written by Kurt! Mind Blown!
I was a teenager in the 90s and people in college always looked like full grown adults to me. This video confirms that everyone in the 90s went to college in their early 40s.
DO try and catch them live . . .
Maybe I’ll sound too obvious. But this album was definitely ahead of time.
Dave looks so young here!
I would be better if i was stoned, but I don;t do that any more
A time when the youth knew that if I didn't want others' opinions shoved down my throat, I would also have the common decency to not shove my own opinions down other people's throats. A time when the youth knew that you needed to earn the privilegebeing
Rape Me isn’t about raping women: it’s about the record labels raping them “Do it and do it again, I’m not the only one”
Lol rape me was my favorite song on that album
Yooo my mom remembers watching this exact thing on TV back then
that girl says rape me is offensive but its about a guy who goes to prison for rape and gets raped in prison. its not just an anthem encouraging you to rape poor kurt. lol
Kurt was intelligent and sensitive - not the best qualities to withstand the pressure of being in the biggest most media analysed rock band at the time.
Billy went home and got his mousse.
The girl @ 1:55 has no idea what the song is even about, it’s a criticism of the industry and the fact that you aren’t aloud to address real problems like assault. Ugh smh I guess artists will always be misunderstood. At least the black guy got it lol
